This month, we would like to introduce you to …
Patricia Gilbert
Parish Councillor
Patricia joined the Parish Council in 2023. Having lived in Tollesbury since 1988 and raised four children here, she felt it was time for her to step up and do her bit. It is a decision she has never regretted, although initially the thought of talking to a room of adults was pretty terrifying, but the encouragement and guidance offered by her fellow councillors has helped her enormously. So much so that in early 2025, she became chair of the ‘Recreation Ground committee. The ‘Rec’, being one of the focal points in her early Tollesbury life, she would like to encourage more groups and clubs to use it for training and leisure.
Being a bit of a late developer, Patricia started studying at 42 and became a classroom teacher at 51. She still works part-time as a tutor and volunteers at the village larder.
She enjoys collecting (almost anything no one else wants), painting, walking, gardening and has recently started sewing again – and yes, one of her collections is collecting hobbies!
